In 1963, Rev. Piercey was elevated to the position of Canon of St. Peter's Cathedral in Charlottetown.
The interior of St. John's Church was extensively improved in 1969, and the parking lot was paved. During the time that Canon Piercey was rector, Christ Church, Cherry Valley, became associated with the Milton- Rustico Parish, and he was made Priest-in- charge. This church is still a part of our Christian Community. Canon Piercey retired from Milton in 1979 after thirty-one dedicated years as rector.
Rev. Eldie Richard came to Milton in November, 1979. A lighted sign given by the family in memory of John E. Poole was dedicated in 1980. A loud-speaker system, a gift of Adelaide Moore in memory of her father and mother, James Paul and Elizabeth Leavenia Moore, and two brothers and two sisters, was installed in 1981.
Rev. Lewis How became rector in 1982. It was during his tenure that the St. John's branch of the Mother's Union was formed. The
present rector, Rev. John Swain came to the parish in July, 1985. Extensive renovations to the rectory, begun in 1980, were completed prior to his arrival.
The parish has been greatly helped by legacies from the estates of John Moreside, F.H. Horne, Charles Coles, Miss Ruby Moreside, David Hooper, Mrs. Thos Easton, Mrs. C.R.
