We informed you last year of the sad situation to which the residents of lle Saint-Jean were reduced by the fire which had burned their crops and desolated their lands. We reported at the same time to your honour that in order to help them survive and to put them in a position to re—commence their sowing last spring we had had them supplied with some provisions from the King's stores, and that Monsieur Lenormant had delivered twenty hogsheads of wheat from Canada for them.
